Just started riding the bike today and it rode great but the oil light came on once it was at running temp 190-200 and I had been riding for about 15 min. oil level is fine however it looks dirty, should an oil change fix this or am I looking at a bigger problem?

 

An oil change never hurt anybody, its worth a try.
But an oil pressure light is a serious thing. You should check the charging system and make sure all is good. If its not, funny things can happen. If those don't turn anything up, do an oil pressure test. Don't ride til you get this fixed. The last thing you want to do is hurt the motor further.

 

I rode it again before I read this and the oil light didn't come on at all. I'm still gonna check the charge system and how exactly do I do an oil pressure reading?

 

There is a plug on the right side of the engine to hook up a gauge to. If you dont have access to a test gauge, you will have to take it in to a shop that does.
