new 929 rider!
I just picked up an 01' 929 with 3500 miles on the odo and was wondering about any stupid issues you guys have run into with this bike. I know there is something about the handlebars vibrating, not sure what else though. I am selling my old bike before I really get a chance to get into the season with this one and would like to get the bumps out of the way right away. It is in the shop now getting raised back up to stock and a new kickstand/barend, but it will be sitting in the shop for a week waiting for the link. Anything else and anything unique about this bike that should be pointed out?

RE: new 929 rider!
There are a couple of recalls that needed to be done on some bikes. If you search the forum for this I'm sure you'll find plenty of information. The main tell of whether or not the bike had gone through these is two small dimples that are stamped into the frame on the right side. Hope this helps, and I'm sure someone will help me with more......

Hey Pyro from Rock Hill, G-ville here. New rider, I got all excited about a dampner when I got mine over the summer. Lots of guys say you need one but I heard lots say don't worry about it unless your stuntin' or racin'. I never got one and have had no problems. Not too big on the stunts but do pull it up occasionally. Guess you could say a beginner on wheelies. But on the other hand, better safe then sorry and they look kinda cool. BTW, 6'4" and stock height is right on for me. Good luck with it and welcome.

Give your VIN to a dealer. They should be able to check for any open recalls.
Only affected a small number of bikes.....one issue was something with the clutch falling apart and the other I don't remember. Minewas not affected so I stopped caring.
I really think you'll enjoy your 929. It's a very capable machine.
Too bad I'm converting mine to track day mule because it's a hell of alot of fun on the road.
This whole steering damper thing is weird though. I have yet to see the headshake many owners seem to experience.

damn! i thought 40 was cold! lol sc929 if we ever head that way, i will def. try and get in touch. I dont stunt, and im the same as u with wheelies, just here and there nothin extreme, but i figure if i can find one for around 200, and it saves my *** once, then thats 200 well spent. lol
