New to the 929
Just bought my 01' 929 a few months ago. I have a few questions.
1. How can I tell if the headers are stock or 2Bros? 2. Previous owner dropped a tooth in the front, how can I see if it is a 520/530 or whatever he may have put on it? 3. How hard is it to get the cut off/megaphone like exhaust? I think that 3 questions for now is enough to get me rolling for now. Thanks in Advance |
Mhmmm lets see..
1) You may be able to tell its aftermarket headers, by if there is not alot of space between the headers and oil filter. Because I think I read somewhere that with aftermarket headers on the 929 its hard to change the oil filter because they are almost hitting it.. Idk just a thought.. So if there is plenty of room between the oil filter and headers then its most likely stock 2) Well if he said he dropped it down one tooth thenn just go by that I guess.. haha otherwise you will prob have to take off the chain and count the teeth.. 3) It would be hard for someone like me because I dont have the proper tools or skills to chop an exhaust.... So if you have the proper tools and skills it shouldnt be hard, its going to be a custom exhaust and take a good amount of fabrication work to make it right tho It is not something you can just buy off the shelf |
as said on the other thread...
pictures would help a ton. what i can tell you is that the stock exhaust has the HTEV with some cables that go to the servo. the stock chain is a 530, with 16/43 sprockets. teeth # is stamped on them. most exhaust cans can be easily removed, unless it was a hack that installed it. take pictures of how it connects.... |

74demon is right. 520/530 is the chain size, not the sprocket size.
This is a pic of a stock header. Attachment 18228 After the header is the HTEV with cables. |
Thanks for getting back so quick... I will look at the bike tonight and take pictures and post em up.
Thanks. |
Been super busy, and will be til the weekend. Update sometime then. Also purchased a new front sprocket 16 teeth. Thanks for the help so far.

Here are the pics that I could get of the headers and mid pipe without taking off the plastics. If they ain't good enough, then I will reluctantly take them off. I guess I need to do a oil change, so that wil be a good time to do so. THANKS

Yea those are stock.
And an oil change is not a bad idea, and its easy to take the bottom fairing on and off just keep track of which side the bolts came off of. |
Alright. I appreciate it. Is it true that with the frame sliders that if the bike goes down it will bend it right there where they attach? Thanks!!
