Need some input on buying a 929 & 954
Howdy everyone, this is my first thread on here!
There is a guy near me that has a 01 cbr 929 and a 02 cbr 954 for sale for $3500......should i buy them?
About 11k miles on each.
the 929 has a good clean title, and a rod hanging out the cylinder wall[>:]
the 954 has no title (not reported in bankruptcy) and a good motor.
All parts for both bikes is included. Both bikes are pretty much stock, decent tread on most of the tires, good brakes.
Im thinking put the 954 motor in the 929, trash the frame from the 954 and sell all the parts off the 954........I should be able to get atleast $500 the parts off ebay.....
I got him to come down to $3500 from 4k, he says 3500 is the payoff on his loan and cant come down any further----Im not afraid of working on these bikes, iv had my atv down to the frame 3 times.
i found a erion edition 929 with 15k miles and clean title A1 condition for $3800 100 miles away......dunno.
Btw, if anyone needs some powdercoating done near dayton, i got a setup.

not ALL of the parts are interchangeable. the subframes are different. but you can switch out the swingarm and the forks. the 929 forks are good forks though. there are quite a few interchangeable parts though. if the 954 is in good enough condition you could probably sell it out right. I would love to have a 954 lot bike. you would definately get more out of the 2 than if you just bought the erion. but the erion is a pimp *** bike ready to roll. keep me informed I always need parts for my 929

The 954 frame is perfectly fine, other than it not having a title. Im thinking fix up the 929 and sell everything off the 954 that i dont use, which will be everything except motor, frame, and maybe wheels. I can powdercoat all the parts I sell and get a little more for them.
The plastics on the 929 are pretty good....tank has a little ding in it. The 954 plastics are pretty rough--scratched and cracked. But bondo and paint can do wonders.
The erion does sound nice.....but what advantages is it besides the paint job?

3800 for that erion is a good deal. I paid more then that a year ago for mine with more miles.
Unless your really wanting a project and have the space to do the work/store stuff, i'd look into the erion. Performance wise the Erion is the same bike as a 929.
