Default MJ Moto Gear Stands

Hey Guys,

I just picked up some new stands and I thought it would be helpful for those of you still on the tiring journey of trying to find the right stand for you. After countless hours of searching and comparing as I’m sure all of you have done, I decided on MJ Moto Gear’s front head lift & rear set and can be seen here at http://mjmotogear.com

To start off, MJ Moto Gear’s customer service is top notch. On their site, the combo comes the rear spool stand and as you guys know, unless you go through some decent amount of trouble there of no use to us. So I contacted a representative at Moto Gear and asked if they could substitute the spool adapter for the paddles and they said that it wasn’t a problem and to state that you would like to substitute them in the comment box when checking out along with what size head pin you need. I ordered the stands just before Christmas and got free shipping and $100 bucks later they appeared at my front door!

The stands are very well packaged. Each piece is individually wrapped in either bubble wrap or plastic. Upon examination, some of the parts did get some minor scratches during transport but it wasn’t anything to worry about. All parts were accounted for and I was surprised to find that they had also included the rear spool attachment as well!!!! During assembly, I noticed that the junction area when joining the handle to the uprights had a little play in it so I used some electrical tape to make up the void and it made for a nice snug and secure fit with no movement of the uprights. The stands did not come with instructions but testosterone prohibits us from using them anyways. Both stands went together extremely easy with only normal tools and we together is less than 10 minutes and were eager awaiting getting to work.

Next came the fun part that I am still working on and that is, making up the .75 inch gap on the right hand side of the bike. For now I’m just using a piece of wood wrapped in electrical tap until I can come up with a permanent solution and I keep you guys updated on that issue. The current solution works great though and the only reason I’m looking for a different solution is there is no retaining edge.

The head lift stand as you can see in the pictures below does not contact any of the plastics and is easy inserted and removed. (Note: You have to remove the bolt securing the break lines to the triple tree in order insert the 13mm Pin in the triple tree). The stand does not come with an array of pins as some other brands do but they can be purchased separately if you’re someone who works on multiple bikes. The rear stand also works great, and holds the bike securely in place with plenty of surface area in contact with the swing are to give you the most stability.

To say the least the stands are great and provide a great bang for your buck! They are well made and do exactly what they are meant to do. Because they are a multi-piece designee, they do have a little wobble side to side but it’s nothing to feel uncomfortable about and I never felt the bike was in danger when shaking it side to side of accidently bumping into it while working on it. I have no doubt that you could mount the bike if needed but if you are someone who needs to on a regular basis you already know who to go to for the best stands and there are plenty of reviews for them and my people that swear by them. For those of you who need a more economical solution these stand will allow you to do just about anything you want to sink your teeth into while still allowing you to keep peace with the women that allow us to have this wonderful obsession.

Cheers and for those of you who don’t like pictures return to the top of the page now!
