I think this is a deal! Opinions??
I'm thinking of upgrading from my 94 900RR to a 2000 929RR.
I saw one for sale that looks great.
2000 CBR 929RR 49 STATE
$3500
19,xxx miles
Clean title
Movistar fairing kit
lots of new stuff
Viper alarm w/ starter disable and digital tilt sensor
New chain, recent tune up, new sprockets, new alarm
Seller said that he just had a major tune up and got the valves adjusted, new plugs, oil, oil filter, new sprockets and chain.
Movistar fairings look great except for the tank which was painted black?
KBB retail is $5610
KBB trade in is $3870
Am I crazy or should I go pick this up!?!

You might want to talk to the guy again, either he had a type or he doesn't know anything bout these bikes, he had the valves adjusted, and the carbs synced.. It's a FI bike.. it doesn't have carbs.
He's right.. it's FI, you need to check with the guy to make sure he's not doing a scam...
If he is, talk him down cause if he owns the bike and doesn't know the difference between FI and carb bikes, he doesn't know what he's doing.

you still need valve adjustements in a FI bike. He did not say he had the carbs synchronized, unless the post was edited to exclude that point. It said a major tune-up. Maybe replaced wires, cables, stuff like that, in addition to any adjustments made to valves...not trying to stir the pot...just blowing my opinion out my a$$.
I agree with everybody. I would def. ask to get it checked out. If he says no then say peace. sounds like a decent price but I would still try to talk him down. You never buy anything without trying to drop the price.
Yes, I did edit the post. I wrote the original post in the excitement after the phone call but without the notes in hand. I must have been reflecting on the cost of the recent tune up on my 94 900rr when I had the carbs synched.
When I reviewed my notes from the phone conversation he said 16,000 mi service, valves adjusted, plugs chainges, oil, oil filter, air filter, radiator flushed, new sprockets and chain.
I will definately try to go a little lower on the price, but it seems like a good starting place. He out of town at the SEMA show until Tuesday. I'll see the bike then.
Here's a pic.

I would also try to find out why there are different plastics on it. If he just wanted to do the movistar look, why is the tank different. Sounds like it may have gone down at some point. 3500 is pretty low for an asking price. NADA says low retail is 4400 and high retail is around 5600. If he is selling it cheap, he's probably hiding something.
