i had this idea for a few years!!!!!
I had this idea for a few years.
I don't know if anyone here has heard of E-ram? well they call it an electric supercharger, but I think of it more as a electric ram air!
so anyways I bought this knock off version a few years ago and when I was into the fast and furious phase of my life, I had it hooked up on my 1997 honda accord v6 with a 75 shot of nitrous and a few other go fast things, full exhaut, nology wires, cold air intake, and made 200 hp at the rear wheels, both with and without the fan.
so I guess this little fan wasn't flowing enough air for the 2.7 liter motor but it did blow a lot of air, around 900 to 1000 cfm.
I know that it blows more air than the inlets of of the 929 sucks in at 11k rpm

now I wish I had 2 of them but I didn't and I can't find the guy I bought this one from in back in 2000.
so I was stuck with one. I though about blocking off the other intake port hole but though it might not be able to flo enough air with the fan off at high rpm's
I know its not an obstruction because the blades don't tun by themselves until 10k rpm and then its a slow turn, plus the fan itself is larger than the snorkle.
I also know that the fan does provide more air than the motor require at max rpm at any rpm and by leaving the other snorkle open it acts as a bypass if for any reason it was to make any boost above 1psi which I'm pretty sure it won't.
it blow enough air that it'll make your cheaks look they do if your riding 70mph with no helmet on and you open your mouth
' myrtle beach' bike week.
so really what I did was build a half *** system that will do more than nothing but not as much as it could with proper research and development.
now is the time when everyone gets to shoot down my modification!!![8/|]

c'mon man........seriously?
wow, i did say that this is the time that everyone gets to shoot down my idea, i didnt know that that was as far as some idiots would read!.......lol
anyways for those of you that continued to read or had someone finish reading it to you then you found out that my slip of 200rwhp was just that, it wasnt 200rwhp but rather 200fwhp. i know if we were being tecnical about were the power was being applied then hey you got me i was just stating that as a reference to the fan and like i said 200hp to care that made 170 stock wasnt a big deal seeing that it had over a 70hp shot of nitrous plus you factor in drive train loss and what do you know 200hp.
but any ways, if that is the general census that i dont know what im talking about then hey please feel free to through up some scientific numbers like how many cfm of air a 929cc motor needs at 500rpm,1000, 1500, or for a matter of fact at every 100rpm would be nice but up until red line to show why my dyno tested, hp gainning idea all be it very, very little, actually worked?
no i dont have a scanner and no im not going to waste my time to figure out a way to put up the graph when it wasnt properly mapped in the first place, and since im not trying to convience you or anyone else that this is the next great thing in motorcycling, i could really care less about what you think i know.
now on to who wants to buy the next great thing in motorcycling?...........oh wait, im just kidding.

yeah i got that you were and its really not a big deal, i just think that it is funny that people are so quick to dismiss an idea based upon their own ignorance.
its a proven fact that ram-air on a motorcycle or even a car for that matter can and in a lot of cases increase horse power, i just chose a different way to get that ram-air effect. now lets say that it only made 1 measely horse power just one measely or at best what i saw of 3 somewhere in the mid range i believe then for what it cost me and what gains i got it actually is a better performance mod per dollar than say a slip-on exhaust in some cases and a few others that might only get you 3hp for 3-5 hundred bucks.
but then again, what do i know?

I don't want to poop on a parade, but these are too small to work effectively. The only electric supercharger that works well is from these guys:
http://www.boosthead.com/home.php
Even that one has massive capacitors and is intended for 1/4-mile use. Your mid-range increase in power on the dyno is likely from the added restriction of the units.
On another note, have you seen the video of guys using a leaf-blower as a turbo? That kinda worked.

And here is the reason why your idea is not very good. It's all about flow, major problem with your idea is that your little blower can probably provide enough cfm for the bike at 1000rpm, and then it's just a restriction, so you'd be better off sticking a potato in one of the air intakes, it'll be cheaper too.
I got a better idea, why don't you instead of wasting your money do something that's been proven to work, like turbocharger. Get somebody to weld you a header with a t3 flange ( most of your friends would probably call it headers though), go to the junk yard and get a turbocharger from a Thunderbird, Chrysler, dsm and stick it on there, then desigh an intake with one inlet, and put a hose or a metal tube from the turbo to the intake, set a waist gate at 3-4 psi, put some premium gas in the bike and go get it tuned. I am not a genius, but you'll make an extra 30-40hp and a lot more torque, no buts about it.
Or you can do something else, see if you can convert the bike to e85, or propane, or electric power, there are many ideas that you can explore, electric blowers and tornado aren't, Google it and you'll see many dumb asses tried it and tried it and tried it again, the proof is there, they fail every time, don't be one of them.
well vwmaniacvr6, poop away, its no big deal my skin is a little thicker than that, i use to race a little, so legal and well some not so legal and since your name is ....vr6, i knew this guy that owned a junk yard and he put a turbo vr6 motor into an old vw pick-up truck, it was the fastest thing at the track, he spotted me half way down the 1/8th mile track and ran me down i cant remeber what his time was but with the SVT contour i had and with a 60 shot of nitrous it would run between 9.0 and 9.5 at around 75mph.
im not sure that if anyone has taken the ram-air covers and the tank off to look at the intake system or if anyone even read the whole post but the fan are not a restriction, the in-let is actually larger than the stock in-let so im not sure how that would provide a restriction but you all have it set up and im just reading about so what do i know....wait a minute, thats not right.
anyways if you havnt read the whole post or you just looked at the pictures, the system is hooked up to a switch an when its not activated which is like 99.99 percent of the time the system acts as a larger extension to the stock tubes which allow the intake to pull fresh air further away from the motor much like a cold air system in a car.
now as for the term "SUPERCHARGER", lets just delete that word from our minds and this post, seeing how i have said ram-air i dont know how many times but people tend to associate ram-air with forced induction and forced induction with supercharger so i can uderstand the misconception.
now i have heard that they wont work because it restricts the intake(which it doesnt, even been tested), that the wont flo enough air( to do what exactly, im not going for boost) now if you can tell me they wont work because the 929 needs X amount of air at Y rpms and that once the motor reaches XZ rpms the fans are no longer flowing more air than the motor breaths in on its own then ill say that makes since and which i had o thought of that, but until then .....
i guess we're going to be stuck with the fact that it worked, no matter what you want to believe, it worked, all be it a small gain in the lower rpms but that is what i wanted in the first place, i really didnt expect to gain more top end, im not using what its got up there anyways.
and now on to HELLBOYTT
well i didnt know that by me accidentaly mixing up rwhp with fwhp not that i dont know the difference or even that i needed someone like yourself to point out the differences to me seeing that that wasnt the point of my post in the first place would put me in the catagory as to not knowing the difference in turbos and superchargers ,and manafolds and headers ,and full exhaust vs cat-back(which is a real cat but a catalatic converter) vs just the muffler, drop in filter vs cold air intake vs ram-air.
i personally think your too judgemental to learn anything from anyone so since you dont feel you can learn anything from me or my post feel free once you read this to not click on it again.

could you explain to me that why you beleive it only works for about 1000rpm? apparently your not a complete skeptic but just not a believer.
i havent tested it but i believe a potato would be a restiction, i think it would block the air way totally this not allowing any air to flow thus causing the motor to stall.
this doesnt happen with my idea so ill stick with my set up.

well all great inventions started as an idea that some jack off said wouldnt work and after maybe so trial and error you got a working prototype and then maybe a mass produced product.
i dont want a turbo, i dont want a supercharger, i dont even want a sneaky pete shot of nitrous.
i am quite happy with the results i got for the dollar and time invested.

i never claimmed that i wanted to better the inviroment but hey go green
now as far as the tornado or spiral max, yeah there are more than one company making millions off that design, its biggest draw back is that they are placed to far away from the actual intake into the combustion chamber the would need to be closer to it almost like a poor mans port job, this also a flaw in my design, the air filter is actually more of a restiction then my fans provide but its not like im going to ride without it.
