Have a few questions
first off, I am going to powder coat my gas cap, now i know that normally you would want everything taken apart fully but I kinda dont want to mess with the complex parts in the gas cap (like the lockset). Do you guys know of a place that i could have my parts powdercoated that would take it apart for me and put it back together? (maybe for extra charge). Or any idea how to start taking it apart myself?
next is removing the rubber off some of the stock parts, like the foot pegs. i want to keep the stock pegs (cause i think they look better) but i cant give them parts to powder with rubber still on it. basically i want to reuse the piece after the metal is coated so how do i get it off without ruining it?.
Last thing is if you have any companies that i should deal with that would be awesome. i was thinking trg because they seem to specialize in motorsports and whatnot however they are about $100 higher then my local guy. Im just not sure thatmy local guycan match the black on my frame like i want it.
thanks for the help guys.

RE: Have a few questions
powder coating the gas cap is a bad idea. the thickness of the powder coating won't allow it to fit properly back on the tank. Or you going to have to sand some of the powder coating off so that it will fit properly but then its going to look like *** not to mention possinly destroying the lock itself. As far as the foot pegs the rubber isn't sold seperately so if you destroy the rubber whle taking it off your going to have to purchase a new foot peg.My advise is to get a black anodized race cap from vortex which are actually really nice. If you want to keep the front pegs the same just get some engine or brake caliper paint and coat the hell out of it. Other than that your wasting money and going to run into a lot of problems.

RE: Have a few questions
thanks for the reply, i was wondering if anybody had tried it. i was also wondering about clearance issues.
maybe my next question should be; how do you guys feel about having a gas cap that doesnt lock? should i worry about that?
about the footpegs, i have never used engine paint. how well will it match the flat(ish) black on the frame? if it does match pretty decent then should i consider using it on the gas cap as well?
thanks again for the help
