Default Gearing

what is the optimal gearing for the 2000 929, mine was tortoured into beng a stunter before i purchased it and now sits at 15/54 which means i am tacking it out way to early and will come up almost instantly. this is not what i want and i would prefer to have it al little closer to stock but with a little better pickup. I know nothing of gearing except what was stock, but from what i haveread here it is still not optimalfor the bike. any advice?

I just have the -1 (15) up front and like it.. definetly more snapp then stock and doesnt affect the speedo too bad

if your interested in a stock rear i will trade you for that pizza cutter you got...Im putting together a stunt bike project and thats the last thing on my list

I have had a few different setups and it sounds like you would want the -1 +2 or 15 45. it won't take away hardly from top end and the takeoff improvement is awesome. I would run a 525, a 520 will wear out faster on a liter bike and the weight isn't a big difference. I just got a steel rear that is a +7 check these guys out http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm...e-ba2e60dcb5ad

I have the -1/+2 520 conversion on my 929 and I think it's a little too geary for me so I just bought a 16 tooth front sprocket so I'll just be +2 in the rear. I don't need the gearing at much as I'd like to make it more than 120 miles on a tank before the fuel light comes on. One thing I'll say it is wheelies easy with the current set up. Hopefully that won't change too much with the new front sprocket.
