Default front end chatter help

Hey
So I went for my first ride on my 929 yesterday and am having a problem. everytime i switch into 2nd gear and hammer the throttle the front tire starts to 'skip' and the frontend starts to dance around really bad. I thought i was going to dump it at one point. I have tried leaning over the front end to help keep it down but this didn't seem to help. Is this normal?? I assume a steering dampner would help?
thanks

with a light powerful bike that has a steep fork angle, the front wheel wants to kinda skip across the ground under hard exceleration which maks it unstable. yes sir a steering damper is in your future.

possible bad forks or unstraight rim feel the front tire if you feel a pattern of divits you need a new tire its common on 929 and 954

looking at it from the side the forks and made closer to vertical unlike lets say a chopper whos forks are closer to being horizonal.if your problem happens under acceleration you probely just need a damper.
