Default Crack in the Crankcase

There’s a decent hole in the lower case and the oil pan. The piece at use to be there is missing so I cannot have it repaired. I’m having low luck on finding a replacement. Does anyone have one for sale? Also I keep getting told I cannot use a different lower and upper they come as a “set”, but what does that mean, and is there any to make it work??

Hi and welcome to the forum. That type of damage requires replacement of the entire crankcase which consists of an upper and lower half. You can not replace only the lower half. It is a matched set with the upper half. So basically you're looking for an entire engine to replace this one.

So you are looking for this.

We’ll I was hoping I could just swap out the case for another matching set. Is that a possibility? My engine seems to be in decent condition other than the hole in the lower case.

Yes you can swap the case, but there will be time and effort getting the proper bearings for the crankshaft and connecting rods between the 2. Time is money, especially if you're paying someone to do it. Engine swap is the most cost effective way to proceed in your situation.

I will be doing all the work, so time isn’t an issue just trying not to break the bank on a new engine when I just need the case.

Well, good luck with your search. Ebay is your friend. I would create a search on there, and then save the search. Saved searches will email you when items matching your search criteria show up.
