Default The Colours were incredible..

Hello all.

I do apologise if this has been asked before, but I have just bought a mint 929 and I have a question.

Motos y Ultraligeros | HONDA CBR 929 RR FIREBLADE ? 2002

It's the same colour as this one, and I'm having trouble tracking down any info relating to the paint job.
Obviously, it's an OEM colour, but there don't seem to be many of them around. As far as the internet goes, this is the only bike I can find the same.

I'm in Australia, and the local importer is adamant they only came in Red/White, Black and that Yellow/Black/White business.

So, my question, what's the colour called, and what's the story?

That's is not an OEM 929 color, nor is that a 929 in the picture.

Sigh. And this is why I basically abandoned forums such as this years ago.

So, to your first point, yes, actually, it is, because there is an identical one in a shed not 3 miles from here that I am picking up on Tuesday, and I can assure you it is not a respray.
I've had a lot of Hondas in the last 35 years and you can ALWAYS tell an original finish. When I get her home I shall take a photo of the paint code for you. (which will at least tell me what the colour is called).

Now, your second point. Really?? What, exactly do you THINK it is????

Seriously, I want to hear this...

And if there is anyone with an actual clue out there somewhere reading this, please feel free to weigh in.

Honda didn't make the 929 in 2002. It was a 954 in 02 and 03. That's not a 929 tail, but it is a 929 swingarm.

Sigh, you will abandon them again, I guess.

allrighty, I'll bite.

Firstly, I didn't say it was a 2002 bike at any point. The one I bought is a 2001.
That article does, however, claim to be a 2002, although it's spanish, so you might not have read it.

I don't know if the 929 was still being made in 2002, although, since the 954 didn't launch until mid year I'm certain it was still being sold so there would inevitably be some 'first reg in 2002' examples around..

Which is totally beside the point, since I asked you what YOU think the bike is in that picture.

I did notice the tail, which looks a bit like a 919 actually, and also it seems to have a hugger, but forward of the seat
it's pure 929

it also looks a lot more like this one in some of the other pics in the photo gallery, I reckon that top one has been to Lightroom for a visit!

A question that has remained unanswered

This is the one I have bought, which looks a bit darker out of the sun but is in fact purple.

And this is teh colour I am trying to find some info about..

Nobody said your bike wasn't a 929. In 18 years since the 929 has been around, I have never seen that color, not even in a picture. If that was a OEM color in your part of the world, it's news to me.

And i don't really care what's in the picture.

Nope. I can't recall ever seeing that color on a 929. But as I said before, it could be a rare color in your market only. Euro and US paint schemes are very different, so why wouldn't Australia be also.
