Chinese steering stabilizer install

I bought this Chinese steering stabilizer off ebay awhile ago for 50 dollars. I couldn't afford to spend the money on a high end stabilizer and since I recently acquired a Bridgeport manual mill, I decided to save money and make my own mounts. I've gone on a few rides so far, and it works great. It got rid of the headshake that nearly killed me a couple times. Bike is much more stable. As you can see from the pics, I made a fuel tank mount, a handlebar mount, and modified a handlebar clamp I got from a friend. I mounted it to the bike using rubber and nylon washers to eliminate vibration. Also bought some nice stainless hardware from Mcmaster Carr. Now I'm waiting on some spray paint to finish the mounts. I made sure that there is extra travel left in the stabilizer from lock to lock and that the spherical bushings are not at extreme angles. I read about a guy who improperly mounted his and it locked up from binding.

Hmm, that's a different mount. So long as it works and doesn't hit your tank - great job. That's a quality job on the machining too.

Very interesting where are most the dampeners mounted?

Then you can have a mount from the fairing stay bracket on the frame with the damper connected to a mount that is on the lower triple tree. And I've also see them on the side of the frame connected to the triple tree (like old SRAD gixxers) |

Here is after I painted the mounts with flat black to match the handlebar and triple clamp.

I don't want to be that guy (however, it's a mod's job), but if you want to work out a deal - it can't take place on CBRF as he is still a NSM (non senior member). He's not allowed to sell anything on the forum yet. |
