Default CBR 929rr build or part?

I just bought a 2001 cbr 929rr in the hopes to fix a few problems it has and be able to ride it soon.

After removing all the plastics i spotted the frame looks welded right below where the vin number is..

Can anyone tell me is it safe to ride this thing with a welded frame?

Thanks.

Welcome to the forum.

Your story is a cautionary tale to those that ask questions about looking at used bikes. One of the things I always suggest is taking the fairings off to inspect for damage that is otherwise unseen.

*IF* the frame has been damaged/broken & welded up, I wouldn't ride it. If the rest of the bike has good components, you could buy another frame & rebuild it. Of course, you'll have to re-register the bike w/ the new frame.

The rest of the bike looks to be in fantastic condition. Very clean in my opinion. It does have some other issues tho..

The front wheel has a slight dent which ive been quoted 130 to fix. The wheel has about half a inch of play (bad bearings). When the wheel rotates i hear something inside. sounds like pebbles or broken glass inside.

Whats worrying me now is the engine..

It wont run smooth and wont run at all unless the throttle is maybe pulled 1/4 on. Before i bought it i did a little research and alot of people said it was dirty carbs.. The bike is fuel injection so ive no clue whats up..

I wanted a project bike but in this instance i feel that i have perhaps bitten off more than i can chew. (or swallow financially for that matter).

Here are the videos of the bike trying to run.. Any helps appreciated.

Did a compression test yesterday...

No 1. 152psi
No 2. 197psi
No 3. 175psi
No 4. 175psi

No 1 is the far left cylinder and no 4 is far right if your sitting on it looking downwards..

What I would do is check all my tip sensors kickstand switch u might have to find a buddy with an ecu. My bike was doing the same yours is I changed the plugs pulled the injectors and put a new battery and we were good to go

uh oh....

sounds like a rod knock in those vids. have you checked the oil/oil pan for shiny/glitter-y gold looking stuff? either way, there is something mechanically going on with that motor. no battery, injector, or whatever is going to fix that

how much do you have in this bike already? as far as parting out, if you do go that route - depending on how much you paid for the bike, that exhaust could be your saving grace. it looks to be in great condition, and the akrapovic full exhaust could bring a LOT of money

oh, and as far as the welded frame, any pictures of where you think it's been repaired?
