929 questions
new to the board so bare with me please. i just bought a 2001 929 from a fellow marine. he bought it brand new in cailf. the bike is stock no extras on it at all. its yellow and blk clean as a pin not a sratch on it. it has 15000 miles on it. it needs a back tire front one like new. i know it needs an oil change. i waswondering what kind of oil is best for it and what kind of tire would be a good for it. i was looking at the dunlop qualifier. with it having 15000 miles on it would be best todo any mechstuff to it like tuning it up. also i would like to put a diff pipe on it. what would be a good choice.new to this type of bike any sugestions would be helpful.thanks
I'd replace the rear tire witht the same model as the front to be sure they are compatible gripwise. When both need replacing you could switch to Qualifiers. I understand mileage is low on them. Pilot Roads are a good choice.
Congrats on the new bike, And welcome to the forums. i dont mean to sound like the internet police, But if you look through the pages of the "929 section" these questions have already been asked (numerous times) and have a LOT of great responses to read through.
To answer your questions.
1. I only use Honda HP4 (synthetic blend)
2. I use Michelin Pilot Powers and love them
3. check under your rear seat for the manual, It has a mileage chart of the maint. schedule
4. I have the same color/yr bike and use a carbon fiber 2bros, deep tough sound (not the whiny bee sound)

Welcome to the forum! I am going to change my oil with Amsoil 10-40 probably this weekend. I have a carbon Micron pipe that I think sounds good. And I also have Pilot Powers on the bike and they are perfect. But also as saidbefore, look through some older posts and you'll see that this hasbeen brought up many times before.
Hi, and welcome!
On the oil: the debate is semi-synth versus full-synth, for Cali at 10W40. My preference is semit-synthetic.
If you are changing the can, then also strongly consider getting a Power Commander (check eBay). It will make the world of difference to your fuelling and ridability.
