929 Not running right
 

So i have a question regarding a 929 im looking to buy.my cousin has a 2001 929 with 23,xxx miles,he let it sit for about 8 months due to work and now that im attempting too buy it,he started it up,and it idles a lil rough and seems like theres a lil bit of gas being spit out the exhaust.it ran great before parking it.any help would be apreciated,thanks in advance.

Sounds like your fuel pressure regulator may be bad. See if there is fuel in the vacuum line that goes to it. Pull off the line and prime the pump. If any fuel comes out the port, the fpr is bad.

It's not too bad. There's a rubber diaphragm that can dry out and crack. When you pressurize the system (just by turning the ignition system on), you can't achieve a consistent fuel pressure (because fuel will leak through it) and the bike idles rough, gets terrible fuel mileage, and doesn't run right.

Best part is that you can access the FPR without removing the tank. Remove the 3 bolts to allow the tank to move a bit. The FPR is on the left side, just under the lip of the tank.

Where can i purchase one for a good price?

If you want an OEM one, ronayers.com has them. If you want to buy used, you can try ebay. IIRC, that there was a guy in the 954 section who was selling a whole set of 954 TBs (which has an FPR) for cheaper than a new FPR costs from the dealer...
