Default 2000 929 want to buy what's this worth.

I"m a long time Honda guy. I have several Honda products and I definately ride "red". I'm looking at a friend of a friends 2000 929RR it has 25k on it. It's pretty decent doesn't appear to have been stunted (visibly anyway) It will need the tank repainted because it has some ugly paint scheme on it. It sounds good has a low beam HID kit, decent tires, new inspection, new chain, and new ebc brakes front/rear. It does have some odds and ends to really make it pop. At any rate he is asking 2500.00 O.B.O.. What do you guys feel with the market and the age of this bike and the mileage what is this worth. And if you feel up to it what is your personal opinion of the bike. I have only owned a vfr 750 a f4i, 600rr and a F2, F3, F4 never a litre bike or any thing bigger than a 600 with the vfr750 being the exception which is a different kind of bike. I appreciate your help. I'm new around here and I hope this was ok to post here. I was on 600RR.net for a long time. And was referenced to this site by Jay.

Welcome to cbrf, I was just looking at one the other day that was a 2001, for $1800 with cracked block but ran still - lol. I blue booked it and they are worth around $3200. Seems his price is good, if the bike is mechanically sound, etc. You could ask him to take it to a shop to have it looked over if you are worried about something, or just to know its in good shape for the $$.

I was the same as you, I have owned a few 600's, 750's and last year I bought my 1000rr. anyway if the bike feels comfortable to you, and your happy with it, go for it, just be sure there's nothing that could be a potential problem. It seems to be a fair price being it needs repainted or whatnot.

$2500 seems fair, of course offer less and work a good middle price. Has it been wrecked? You mentioned something about it not being stunted, but what about other damage cosmetically?(if any) If it doesn't have the factory paint/fairings, it could mean the bike was wrecked/dropped and different fairings were put on which coudl mean some underlying problems. Just a thought to think about. But, like Cobra said, if it is mechanically sound then the price is good.

i agree, $2500 is a fair price, but not a super deal. offer $2000, assuming its all that you say and mechanically sound. 25k miles is nothing if it's been taken care of. since he's your buddy, he may just give you a deal.

how ugly is the paint and why would someone that takes care of a bike, do that? what were they hiding? do you have any pics? if the fairings are aftermarket, look for signs of crash damage.

$2,500 sounds fair but offer a lower price. Have u ridden th bike urself? Check for scratches on th plastics , tank, handle bars, muffler. Anything that can indicate if it has taken a spill. Check th side covers for damage/oil leaks.

Has two sets of plastics stock and the yellow aftermarkets he put on and white/red factory ones. I can't see any damage as to wear its been dropped or they did a heck of a job. The guy he got it from had his name put on in vinyl and cleared over it and frankly it just looks like crap did the same thing on the tail section too at least it was done to the aftermarket one. If I could pull it out for 2000.00 or 2200.00 you think pull the trigger then? Also, forgot to mention it has a two brothers exhaust as well no blemishes on it.

as long as it's mechanically sound, do it. it's potentially a great bike for that amount of money.

welcome to the 929rr family....(hopefully!)
