Stupid oil level question
I apologise in advance for this question, but I don't have the factory manual and the shop manual doesn't spefically mention it either.
To check the oil with the bike vertical on the wheels. Do you screw the dip stick back in to check the oil level or just push it in until it hits the threads then check it. Thanks |
RE: Stupid oil level question
There is no center stand on the CBR. Do not use a trackstand as this will raise the rear wheel too high and give an inaccurate reading. You have to hold the bike upright and put the distick in until it hits the threads.

Sweet! Thanks for the info.

RE: Stupid oil level question
put the bike level and look into the eye for oil level on right side

RE: Stupid oil level question
Early 900RR's didn't have a sight glass for the oil level. I don't know what year Honda changed that, but I know 92's don't have it. Maybe it was too much weight to add one. (LOL).

RE: Stupid oil level question
My 94 doesn't have it either. It a good idea though.

RE: Stupid oil level question
I think it came when they changed from the 893 to the 919 I want to say 96 was when that happened.

RE: Stupid oil level question
It's funny to read this thread now. I have a recing rear stand. Somehow that came out as center stand in the original post. Too many years with a VFR. I've edited the post so there won't be any additional confusion. CBRs do not have centerstands.
