does anyone know if a 2001 f4i rear tail will fit on a 99 900rr and what is needed to do this[8D]

No, I had a f4 tail and tried it, it's too narrow.

what if i used the sub frame from the f4i or even a whole unit from a newer600rr

That would obviously work & it wouldn't be a bolt on application. You'd have to have the f4 or 600RR measured, angled correctly, then welded(the mounting points to match the 900RR subframe mounting points)

im wondering if the 1000 tail and subframe would work does any one know of any particular years that would be best

The 900 series looks fine the way it is! Why would you guys just be throwing on crap parts like its an old Ford truck? Seriously...

i was thinking of trying to put on a undertail exhaustand those newer tails look sleeker and i wouldnt even work on a peace of crap ford bowtie all the way dude[:@]

He's right, there is nothing wrong with the way the 900 looks. I thing that rear tail on the 900 is what stans out the most on my 900. You can by a single seat tail from shark skins that makes it look even better. Also ford is ford and chevy makes the bowtie. Johnny

Thanks Johnny, The 9 series is a beautiful bike just the way it was made, no reason to go all chop shop on it. This is the exact reason that I think that the WELL KEPT and un-modified (body)will become a collector item some day because they will almost all be wrecked, parted out, raced, or just plain mangled like you guys are talking about. Honda did a great job.... If it aint broke, dont fix it...
