Question about my battery.

Would a COMPLETELY or bad battery not allow the motorcycle to continue running?

Recently, I've thought I was having battery issues as all the common symptoms are comming up for dead battery, for example dimmed headlights when attempting ignition and what not. Its trying to turn over, but then the battery dies out and completely stops trying.

So yesterday I bought a tender from cycle gear and charged my battery 10 hours or so until the tender indicated it was done.

Put the battery in, it starts up strong and I think problem solved. Ride to walmart, come out, and dead battery. So I bumb started it by dropping the clutch and got it running.

However now it seems even with a bump star the engine doesn't want to stay running and dies with no throttle. Any ideas?

So I bought a new battery today from cycle gear and its charging. If this doesnt solve the problem, any ideas?

Thanks.

Seems like your battery is shot, possibly shorted. The bike won't run.

You may also have a charging issue. The Voltage Regulator/Rectifier for the CBR has been known to be fragile.

I'd suggest replacing the battery first. If the battery keeps discharging, then likely you have a VR issue. Here are a couple of links to aftermarket replacements.

I am also having the same problem. I have replaced the Regulator/ Rectifier because I did the meter test and found that it was draining the battery. I have since replaced both the battery and the Regulator Rectifier with a stock one. I was driving in traffic the other day and it stalled at low rpm because the battery was dead. I put the meter back on and it reads 12 volts stopped and reads about 13.5 running (idle) but when i rev the engine it drops voltage to about 13.2 to 13v does this mean its time for a new stator?

Sounds like im going to replace the reg/rec and the stator at the same time. I don't really want to be messing around to much with it. Its supposed to be summer, time to ride not repair.
