overheating
Guys this is killing me. My bike startedheating to 220+ and then will die when I try to take off from a light. It will also try and die just at idle when its that hot. I know if it gets too hot then it will shut down, but not at 220. I've changed my radiator, water pump, thermostat and I am evenrunning the Engine Ice anti-freeze. It still runs hot and still tries to die and hesitate from a stop. What could it be? I'm stumped. Thanx in advance

RE: overheating
what is the idle set at ? mine is about 1200 or so try turning that up a little my buddie had the same problem with his bike . mine also runs 220 on a hot day in traffic with the stop and go driving but cools down to around 190 on the highway my fan also kicks on at 215 degrees. does your fan turn on?

RE: overheating
Yea make sure your fan works. If it doesnt come on, you have got problems.

RE: overheating
my fan comes on @ 220 without fail, my idle is set @ 1500. I thought maybe my low flow carbs were getting builup on them so I am gonna run some STP fuel additive and see what that does.

RE: overheating
does anybody else have any ideas?

RE: overheating
check your fuel filter in the tank you just might have some gunk in there and maybe change the all the fuel and vacum hoses looks can be deceaving small cracks and dryrott can realy afect your system especialy the little vacum hose that comes off your carbs to the fuel pump

RE: overheating
another thing is if your bike is running to lean it will over heat as well

RE: overheating
Vacuum hose off carb to fuel pump? I have a hose coming off along the right side of my carb but its not connected to anything. Its not even long enough to connect to anything. Some say it should connect to the bottom of the fuel tank. Fuel tank has 3 outlets on the bottom, i only use 2. Fuel out and small hose to fuel pump. whats the third hole for? or is that just a vent of some sort?

RE: overheating
Mine does the same. I hard wired my fan and took out my thermostat. is that bad!??!

RE: overheating
put the thermostat back in and hook your fan up the way it should be you could burn it out running it all the time . as far as the fuel line two of the three comeing out of the bottom of the tank are for over flow the big middle one is for fuel to the fuel pump and you should have the small one from the carbs going to the small nipple to the fuel pump
