new forks
Ok, I will be honest. I don't know much about bikes but want to learn. Currently I have a 98' CBR 900RR. But, the down side is that the front end is trashed. I have been looking on ebay and can't find any forks for my year or size bike. I need to know what are the years and makes of bikes with forks that will fit mine because I really want this thing up and running again because I hate it sitting in the garage. As I see it I need new forks and a new wheel but both seem hard to comeby without any knowledge in the subject. There are 2 fork sets on ebay currently but I believe they are for a 95' and a 96' bike. Will either of these fit?
Thanks in advance.

RE: new forks
No -- '95 or '96 aren't listed as replacements for a '98. Doesn't mean they won't fit -- I don't have the measurements. I believe that the '98/'99 calipers won't fit on the earlier models. The '99 is a direct replacement though.
So what exactly is the matter with your forks -- crash damage or just leaking?

RE: new forks
the left fork is totaly bent beyond repain. but other than that the rest of the parts are in good working order, from what I can see anyways. I had gotten an estimate and they told me that it was going to be $3,500 to fix so I just told them to **** off. They basically tole me that everything was ruined but its a dealership and I never trust them.
What would I need to get in order to make the older forks work on mine? is it just the calipers or would the lines and hoses as well as the rotors need to be replaiced as well?

these are what I was looking at, they are off the 96-97 model

RE: new forks
well I lost the other bid but the one that chainstretcher has showed me is still for auction. Now it is a 93-95 which would mean I need those calipers, but when I wrote the guy about them he had also mentioned something like a rebound damper adjuster. Are these expensive and would I really need to get it because he wasn't sure on the whole thing.

RE: new forks
Currently my left is bent and right is straight.
Lets just say that I was able to find another set of forks at a junkyard. Would it be possible to take the right fork off another bike and use it on mine? or does it have to be left for a left and right for a right.
Also, would these be a good deal if they are bent near the top of the tree?
