My 93 Frankenstein winter project.

My 93 Frankenstein winter project.
I had just sold my 94 vfr750 and decided to get this as a winter project. I picked this bike up off of a friend who had wrecked it about 7 years back. He had it sitting in his garage since. After some carb cleaning this thing fired right up. Since it was not in road condition I just took it for a quick ride up the road and fell in love. The power is insane especially compared to my vfr and I have always loved the look of these bikes. Since everything needed repaired I decided to stray away from the stock form and go custom. I really loved the single sided swingarm on the vfr so I knew I wanted that. I was trying to decide on a tail section. I was thinking R1 and when I started doing some searching I ran into CBRRRT's 900 on here and that sealed the deal.
After some cleaning I realised that this bike wasn't in that bad of shape and started my local and ebay shopping to locate the parts I wanted. I am trying to see how little money I can spend on this project and make it look like a million bucks. So far so good. It has been a couple months and It is coming together nicely. Here are some Pics and I will keep posting the progress here. Thanks for looking and can't wait to here your comments.

I decided to weld the subframe to the main frame instead of making brackets. I figured there really isn't any reason to take it off and this makes it look really clean. I made a bracket out of aluminum for the rear tire hugger and had it welded to the swingarm. You can also see that I cut down the stock R1 pipes. I think they flow better with the tail section this way. I also used the stock guts to make some baffles for the pipes. Can't wait to see what they sound like.

I forgot to include a pic of the seat. I was able to heat the back of the seat up with a heat gun and mold the seat right around the tank. That was how I got it to fit so snug. I couldn't believe how well it came out. I haven't decided whether or not I am going to fill those areas in. I am going to get a copy of that CBRRRT. Can't wait to see it.
