Default Help I got OWNED!!!!!!!

Well I wouldnt exactly call it owned.........I Own a 99 900rr with a 8 inch over swingarm and one tooth down in front yosh full system and clutch upgrade, my friend owns an 03 636 with a leo vince slip on 2 teeth up in back and a power commander....we did a rolling start at 25-30 mph and then got on it at the same time I pulled away about three bike lengths and kept hammering, I hit third peeked in the mirror and he was still there, I hit fourth, peek, still there, fifth and I'll be damned I could hear him, and before I could even start to think about hitting sixth he was walking past me, I almost **** myself.......WTF? I take great pride in my bike being that it is the only 98 99 model on the big island of Hawaii and have turned down quite a few offers to sell for 6,000, 2k more than what I paid, I know some of you might say get a new one but I enjoy going to drag night and putting down 636s R6s GSXR600s-750s and giving the 1000s a run for their money on my older model bike, the fastest I ran was a 10.40 at 135+ all stock with 6 in extensions, then I blew the bottom half and had new pistons, rods, crank and oil pump put in and the emmissions crap pulled and plugged, I know I should get a Jet kit but they only offer a stage one (5% increase) will that make that much of a difference? Counld there be something else? I did a65 mph roll on with another 636 with a 35hp shot of NOS and he had a hard time getting away and this is when my bike was stock, please help, need advice on upgrades cause if this happens again.....well.....ever seen a 30 year old man cry....lol

yea i feel the same way with my 93 but the 900's are not really fast by todays standards. i would suggest to do the jet kit but they also have a stage 7 kit for the 93 but im not sure for the 99. sorry but i dont know how you could get some more power other than rebuilding ur engine and high end stuff.

That 636 is fast but it must have got you on a bad run because a 10.40 pass on your bike is very respectable and the 636 stock goes low 11s on the quarter. I've been thinking of going to the new liter bikes but I really love my 900rr and feel more confident about it. Johnny

Maybe you should have stayed in your 3rd n 4th gear. The rr high end torque would have given the new 636 run for its money. But I always believe its not going to be easy to beat any newer 600cc with the 900rr.

If you ran a 10.40 you should have NO problem knocking off a 600. A 929/954 should watch out esp from a dig. I can only speculate that since the rebuild its not quite right as you say it DID run that. It probably does not now and that is the problem. Yes, if it's got a full exhaust........a jet kit (even stage 1) is worth it. If you runit too lean too long.........too bad!!

Something happened in the rebuild. You may have LOST power. (Stands to reason based on what you are saying)

SOunds like a fun job.......i would rip it apart and see what the deal is. It's not easy but something happened.

i have a 919 96 and a friend of mine have a 636 05, never can reach me, last sunday go to ride on highway and he can get closer when i give full gas i just leave him back, and i go with my girlfriend he go alone

in track i have problems to beat r6's gsxr's even f2 or f3 but i know thats is for my experience on track but when we are strike there is no problem to reach other 600's newer bikes that make me think my bike is still in good shape

i dont know if my bike is jetted, have a erion racing exhaust, k&n and that make me think is jetted, anyway i get a dynojet kit but still dont put on carbs

if i dont let it go high rpm (10-11k) is more difficult beat newer bikes, but when i want to feel proud i just let the beast drive hahaha

next time i will put the camera on
