RE: hate to be new
I got my first bike ever, 94 900rr, this past spring and I cannot say enough good things about it. It had 16k on it when I got it. I put 1200 miles on it in 2 weeks, 600 the first 2 days I got it. I laid it down trying to ride in the rain, I do not suggest that. It's now bieng repainted to a color I like, black, and I can't wait to ride it again. I've cleaned the carbs, adjusted all fo the suspension, rebuilt the front forks becuase of a leaky seal (previous owner rliked to do *******, go figure). I highly recommend a Hanes Manual on the bike if you intend to gdo the work yourself. They're easy to work on, fun as hell, and reliable so long as you keep oil and gas in them. What more can I tell you? RIDE!

Also, the 96 has some improvements over the 94 in regards to the front end and riding position, and some minor changes in the motor and trans. The 94 has a quciker 1/4 rating while the 96 boasts a higher top end.
My bro has the 94, I havce the 96 and would ride/buy/recommend either.
