Default Going to look at a 95 900rr Sun. What to look for as far as problem areas??

Ok guys I have a chance to trade the 16,000mi 96 F3 I just got ( for dirt cheap) for a 95 900rr. Yes it has 44,000mi on it and bike has been rebuilt. But I have always wanted a 900rr. My F3 could use new plastics almost all of them but is mech. sound and runs well. The owner says 900rr needs carbs rebuilt but looks very nice . Polished frame and wheels and plastics are very nice. He got a quote to rebuild carbs for $800. I am a fairly mech. guy and into cars and drag race so might tackle that myself. I guess I would like to know what you guys think and if there is any thing I should look for as far as problem areas or anything like that on the 900rr. He said it runs decent and is still very fast even though carbs need rebuild. I just want it to run decent enough to ride rest of the summer then work on carbs over winter. I am gonna have to put money into my bike for plastics so rather spend the money on the 900rrs carbs. Any feedback will be greatly appreciated. Thx

I would rather have the 900 any day. You say the owner says it looks very nice. Do you have pics? What condition is it in? All depends on how it was taken care of. $800 for carb rebuild? You can get a set off ebay for way less. If it runs good and is in good condition, I would do it. I have a 99 and it's solid. What to look for.....same as any other bike. But, it's a Honda! Why would the guy wanna downgrade to a smaller bike though? Especially, if yours needs plastics. Sounds fishy to me. Do you know him? I would make sure you check the major stuff (frame straightness, anything that shows it might have been crashed, etc.)

i would do it. the 9rr has a better rep the the f3 any day. jus say it to your self "cbr 600 f3" or "CBR 900RR" thats 2Rs. im not sure what size you are but a lil guy on a big bike is cool, a lil guy on a lil bike is normal but a big guy on a lil bike is lame. Get the 900 and carbs only cost a ton if u get them done from the dealer. find a bike shop save hundreds.

do it yourself, learn something, save even more money.

cleaning and putting carbs back together is easy as hell! jet kit while you're in there, and have some fun getting to know your bike.

Yep leaning towards it for sure. Yep was planning on rebuilding carbs myself and throwing a jet kit in it. I am big time into cars and drag race so think I can handle the rebuild myself. Here is bike he wants to trade me. I love t myself. CC he says its just too much bike for him. He says he is not very mechanical so bolting on new plastics on my bike is way more o his cup of tea so to say .My bike s mechanically sound so just makes more sense for him to own. His bike has a salvaged title so I am sure it was rebuilt so I will for sure check vin and make sure it rides straight especially if I take hands off of bars as my current bike does. Yeshis needs carbs work an he said it is gonna need new tires so kinda trading for bikes with exact opposite problems. lol

Bike loks ok from pic. Frame has been polished. Not original plastics on it. Are you trading or buying? mileage?
Look at tires, chain, sprockets, fork seals.
