Default FactoryPro ignition advancer and APK kit

Hi everybody,

I've bought FactoryPro adjustable ignition advancer (http://www.factorypro.com/products/rotors.html).
Along with that, I've purchased their AIRBOX PLUS KIT and I'm about to install all that on my bike (CBR 900 '92).

My friend is a mechanic and he'll install jets and ignition advancer, but he asked me about some issues with advancer... I know that some of you have already done this, so...

1. Does ignition advancer affect the working temperature of the engine? It changes the ignition timing after all...

2. Do I need to put brand new chain inside the engine (I don't know the exact name of that engine chain, sorry)? My bike has 25k miles on it and that chain is the original one, but it doesn't make any noises... However, it's probably streched at least a little.

3. What's your opinion regarding the size of the jets to use? In the "APK Kit" I got 3 sets of jets (138mm, 140mm and 142mm) and I don't know which ones to use... Does anyone have some experience with that?

Thanks!

I have a Remus oval racing can and it looks and sounds really great...

I've talked with them and they said that I should use +2 degrees, but I've heard from some guys here that they use +4 degrees... Because of all that I wanted to see all benefits and disadvantages of both solutions....

i have the fixed +4 Deg. on mine. .l;
works well ... ( i think ....)

what is there air box mod like ..??? thought about getting it.

if your is adj. . then just try it ..!!
fitting the ignition advancer is easy ....

drain the oil . ( or your get wet ... )

and i'm sure it's the right hand cover ( from sitting on the bike ...) on the engine ...
don't even think you need to take off any body panels ...!!!!

yor prob. end up trying it boths ways ... ( just too see..... )

but you might not "feel" any difference ... might only be noticable on a dyno graph...

Today after work I'll probably install jets, air filter and that ignition advancer...

Also, I'll try both +2 and +4, so I'll let you know if there's any difference between them... I'll take snapshots during the process, so I might write a small article about it.

thanks for your info!

here are some pics of my bike

Hey, it's absolutelly great! I've installed only jets and air filter on the first day and I've noticed the change only after 5k rpm... Next day I've installed the ignition timing advancer and it really, really made a big difference! Now, the bike really moves fast and it's really nervous!

And it's incredible how much torque my bike got at lower rpm's. It's pulls hard from just 1500 rpms and it's pulls without any hesitations.

I still didn't have the chance to test the max speed, but I will do it soon. This Saturday I'm travelling to Greece for 2 week vacation (I'm from Serbia and Montegro), so when I come back I'll have more experience to talk about. Of course, I'm going there on my bike

You can check out pictures of my bike on my bikepics page - http://www.bikepics.com/members/pablocobalt/92cbr900/

Best regards to everyone!
