Factory Pro AirBox Mod Jet Kit

Anyone running one of those here ? It's the one where you gut the A/B and use thier filters and jet kit ?

Just had a bike come thru running rough and have some issues. Eventually deceided to pull the airbox to get to the carbs and saw it had the modded air box. The guy didn't know anything about it since he bought the bike used but said it ran great till all of a sudden.

I'm like , well I don't know how , you gotta run some kind of airfilters on this either way. He just shrugs. After a little inspection I see that the filters broke down with age and the entire filter set (besides the rubber neck) got sucked right thru the carbs ! There was blue 'goo' in everything ! Unreal.

Short story , after a complete clean , rebuild and new custom filter install , he's back out tearing up the road.

I guess anyone running one of those kits with the blue filter pods better keep an eye on 'em.

FYI.

;)

Stick with K&N.

OutlawF4 09-13-2010 02:16 AM

It wasnt a K&N, was it?

No ,they supply thier own filters for the kit.

FWIW , I'm really not a fan of KN but for other reasons.

My bike has had it since 95. I think factory is the best jet kit out there.
Just my opinon. Runs GREAT:icon_wink:

The kit is fine. I'm talking about the air filters that came with the kit.

When's the last you cleaned and oiled them?

Are they still there?

:)

I just cleand them and they still look like new. I have heard of mice getting in there and chewing them up but never of them falling apart. I guess it could happen though.

Filters are uni style foam in that kit, Age kills them

I bet "whoever" before you probably cleaned them in the wrong type of cleaner and it probably ate the air-filter material. Ive seen that happen before(with foam).
