RE: cooling prob.
i got bike used
but i was fine when i got it and just started tothis after changeing the fluids dont see no scale built up i didnt think about the pring loaded ring seal or not for some reason so ill check that but even cold and cap off water rises in raid. and into overflow. (((how would i know if pump is going bad)))) or how do i perge the system if its some air in there people have said that too. |
RE: cooling prob.
what is the normal PSI for this bike
on the water system. |
RE: cooling prob.
the air should work its way out with the cap removed, it will buble at the spout and the lvel will drop. But again the fuild should not rise, that tell me that the pump is fighting against some restriction in the system. It seems hard to imagine to me but why else would the pump raise the water level? It will happen after its warm but it will not be just gushing out of there until it boils. Does this happen on startup right away? If it does then something ain't right in the way this water is circulating and thats really the best I can tell you. Sorry there isn't more help but the pump is mecahincially driven do I don't see how it could up its output in terms of volume. Someone tell me if I am wrong.

RE: cooling prob.
well all this time all it was was the raid CAP.
it wasnt setting all the way down where the spring is to the inside of raid. now got therm back in too and running hot to trot. just got back off of a 100 mile trip on it testing it all out and all looks good thanks everybody and to 900FighterRR thanks for the spring hint. |
RE: cooling prob.
Sweet. Your welcome. And now you feel real good and it was no big deal, makes all the suffering almost worth it. Was the spring not extending all the way or what? At least its fixed, enjoy riding her and be safe.

RE: cooling prob.

RE: cooling prob.
I just put a second washer onto my radiator cap and presto, cool as a cucumber. No more boiling or running hot. Thanks for all your help. Not very often you find a free, easy fix.:D
