99 engine into a 97 frame.

Will it slip right in? Any mods need to be done? Anyone else ever did this with this year?I might have a chance to buy a '99 motor, but I won't if it won't work in the '97 bike. Any info I would greatly appreciate fella's. thanks in advance.

RE: 99 engine into a 97 frame.

Can't tell you whether it is a 100% direct fit but my 97 had been replaced with a 99 engine. I didn't notice any modification nor the mechanic mentioned to me about it. So I assume it is a direct fit. Even the engine spec I guess is the same; 918cc, magnesium cover, so on.
