99 900rr cranks but wont start
hi im new to the motorcycle world and I just bought a 99 900rr for 1200 because the previous owner said that the carbs needed to be cleaned and he didnt wanna l pay for it because it expensive...... and this is where my headache starts I clean the carbs and put new spark plugs in went to start it and I realized it has no spark so I no that the cdi box is known for goin bad but I dont thinks thats the problem because while the bike is in gear and you try cranking it trys to take off while the clutch lever is pulled in can some one help me out

Why would you think no spark is caused by the bike moving while cranking?
1. Check cable adjustment, but more likely:
2. Clutch plates are stuck together. Happens if its been sitting too long. Drain the oil, remove clutch cover. Disasseble, clean/replace, reassemble clutch. Use a JASO-MA oil to refill.
It may be the cdi, may be something as easy as the kill switch is off... A used bike purchase should always be met with a full stripdown and inspection, not a "make it run and lets go". Going 80mph down the freeway is a bad time to learn the axle nuts weren't tight.
Pick up a manual, and feel free to ask questions!

im sorry I was typing faster then I was thinking.. but um I meant to say while the bike is in gear I can crank it and it will try to take off even when I pull in the clutch lever so now im thinking it could be clutch related or the the neutral safery switch but would a bad switch cause no spark

to me if the bike is in gear and the starter is turning the bike will jerk because of the starter but i also noticed that even when clutch is not pulled in the bike will try and start while the bike is in gear so now im thinking it could be the neutral safety switch but if you dont think so i will try to clutch removal

Now,
No fuel. I have gas in the tank? The fuel tank key is in open, reserve, or off position? The fuel line and the vac line are in the correct position?
No spark. I have electricity? Fuses are in good condition? Regulator is good? Coils have good connections and have good ground?
Air. Vacum leak? Bad carb Gasket (leaks)? Any Animal in the air box?
After That get complicate it like timing and stuff like that.....
Good Luck
