97 cbr900 Throttle position sensor/ wiring

Hi all, I am working on a nightmare project. I just bought a 97 cbr900 and the previous owner took all the wiring and CDI. So I want to redo this bike. I have a 93 cdi and full harness. What problems will I encounter using this harness? And does the TPS affect the engines performance any? Can I run without it? It seems wierd to me on a carbureted engine.

Thanks!

After rejetting once i put tank back on fired up ran like crap.... Then i remembered i forgot 2 plug TPS .. so yes it makes a difference, not sure maybe it could b bypassed but it goes thru your CDI, dunno how u would go bout that? Doesnt the 93 harness have a plug for TPS or didnt they have them?

After checkin my manual i c they started using TPS in 96... Sell 93 harness & CDI and find 96-99 unless someone else on here has tried it and worked i'd b tryin 2 find model yr that has it! Less headaches!!

I figured I didn't wanna take a chance. I have a 97 harness coming, I already have a cdi from a 93. The plugs appear to be the same. Will it work? Has anyone tried?

The TPS works thru the CDI, so i imagine u will need a 96-99 CDI as well!
