Default 929 rear wheel on a 900 update

Well guys it is official, the 929 wheel does fit a 900 as long as you buy the cush drive as well. The shafts are different diameter but thats an easy fix. You can either use the shaft off the 929 by using a die grinder on the swing arm or change the bearings. Now I have a swing arm that I'm not going to use of a 929. Now I need to make sure I can fit a 190/50-17 on my 900. Johnny

never use a die grinder on a swingarm like that. You'll loose the factory set alignment and the bike won't ride straight. it's better to change the wheel bearings.

Thefactory set alignment runs back and forth To adjust the chain tention and that does'nt get disturbed, and when you grind you only grind the bottom a few thousands. If you know what your doing you will be ok. Johnny

the correct way to do it would be to replace the wheel bearings. Grinding on the swing arm like that would allow the axle to have play up and down, no matter how tight the axle is. one thing ive learned about working on bikes is not to take the cheap way out. After all a set of bearing will only cost about 35 bucks.

OK guys, I won't argue with the engineers; you all win, but that bigger axle is a good deal.
