Default lifting the front end

hi all.
how do folks lift the front end when replacing the head bearings as all the usual lifting points are not available and the exhaust pretty much covers the sump.

thanks

I usually hang front of frame from garage beams. Or ladders.

You're welcome!

Note that stable lift requires 3 contact points. So rear-end needs to be on stands for 2 points and 3rd point is from hanging front-end. Good luck!

On the 900RR, rear stand/jack stands plus the ladder up front. On some other bikes, you can use stand in the rear and jack stands up front on the frame/engine mount brackets.

A bit late but you can get a stand that raises via the swing arm [pivot pin holes then use ratchet straps to wind the rear wheel down and keep it down. Thus the front is in the air ....

I use an abba stand with the front end lift adapter, very stable and around £160 all in with the front lift adapter, photo below shows one in use, basically the abba stand lifts the back wheel in normal use, to lift the front you fit the front lift adapter, push down on the back of the bike and tighten the supplied strap over the swing arm to keep the front up, excellent set up.

Thinking all the time us Brits !!

PS remember to specify the correct fittings for your bike when you put the order in, it’s all on their website.
