Default 900 Plastics

Hey, I was wondering if anyone here knows if 98 900 plastics can be put on a 95 bike, and what I need if its possible. I hit a deer on my 95 and the full plastic kits are much cheaper for the newer bikes. thanks.

Yes, but you need some mods done on your rear subframe, a new headlight upper fairing mount, mirror stay, and 98-99 rear seat with seat bracket. (The 98-99 seats were smaller at the end and sits nearly 1/2" lower and will have a large gap when mounted to the 93-97 rear seat bracket. The speedometer will require a modification since the 95-97 speedo's are off the sprcoeket cover and the 98-99's ran off the cranckshaft. If you want, it's easier (and cheaper)to modify the gauge stay to accept the 95-97 gauges. If you are refering to the plastic sets sold on ebay, please note that they are either PVC or PVC & Fiberglass upper cowel. Some have mentioned that the PVC molded units being torn off at high velocities. The paint job is nice but the plastics may need re-enforcement in mounting points. As for tanks, the 1995 tanks have onlyONE bolt on the headby the steering stem; however, newer year 900rr's have2 mounting holes. You need to fabricate the holes if you wish to buy a complete original fairing set with tank. The petcock ifdifferent as well. 1993-1995's run off a fuel pump, but the newer years are gravity fed off a vaccuum line on the diaphram the opens the petcock fuel flow as the engine turns. They areshort as well - This issue can be resolved by using your original 95 petcock (just cut it shorter with a hacksaw or dremel.) The fuel *** is also larger on theolder years and may be obstructed once installed. Good luck

I've got 99 front, middle, and lower fairings on my 96. Not a direct fit by any means but it does give it an aggressive look. I don't think this helps with your 95 but just in case someone comes across this thread ya know.
