2001 929 rear wheel on a 96 900
I purchased a 96 cbr 900 pretty well dissasembled and for the last two months have had quite a time putting it together. I've been purchasing parts threw ebay and have discovered that this bike was already made up from several year models and different brands as well. The tail is from a 98 and I found that out after purchasing a 96 rear seat. thanks to this forum I found out the difference. Getting to my question I noticed my front wheel was a three spoke and my rear was a six spoke so I wanted to match, well the front end is a suzuki gsxr front end so not opening a new can of worms I decided to get a rear three spoke and purchased a 2001 929 rear wheel and its wider on the hub. Does any know if I purchase the cush drive can I make the wheel fit my 96 900. Thanks Johnnyh
LOL....sounds like you'de have a cool bike if it gets done. I would think you'll need the cush drive as well as the swing arm AND you need to make sure the rear sprocket is offset the same as the front. If not you will wear the **** out of your chain and it would probably be dangerous. Someone on here has certainly performed such a trick but I am not one of them. The 929 is wider obviously so does it clear the swing arm?
Ive seen pictures of the cush drive and it is thiner then the one I haveon my six spoke, but I don't know if it will compensate the difference. The wheel itself will clear but I would have to go to a 190 on the tire as the rim is 1/.2 inch wider. I have,nt removed my wheel to see if the bolt is the same thickness. Thank for your reply. I don't know if this will help but this bike has alot of erion racing parts on it. Thanks johnnyh
