2 probably dumb questions
1.I'm having trouble getting my mirrors setup to clear my shoulders, i'm a stout dude 6'4" 240 and really wide across my upper body, is there mirrors i can put on my 95 900 to get em out a bit more to the sides, i gotta lean my head way over to the side to look behind me.
2. This is the first bike i've ever had that i cant start in gear with the clutch pulled in. On my way home tonight i stopped to let a couple of families cross the crosswalk by my house and when i went to take off for a tight right turn i stalled the bike(ya embarassed at this point) So instinctively i pull in the clutch and hit start...Nothing, both my suzukis would fire with the bike in gear and clutch in, i realize they gotta be somewhat dummy proof but my thought is what if i manage to stall it at a busy intersection and in that moment of ah crap defeat mode you miss Neutral a few times, (happened tonight) you feel like a sitting duck, any way around this? And dont tell me you never stall your bike

its been a LONG time since i had my 900 but if memory serves me i could start it in gear. if you have a couple wires going to your clutch handle thats the safety switch that needs to be engaged in order to start in gear. you might need a new one or just adjust it. i just had to adjust mine on my f4i cause i put an aftermarket lever on it. i would check that first. as for the mirrors.... i have the same prob but im guessing not as bad(only 6' 200) yeah they make longer mirrors and even extentions for the stocks. check out ebay.

Thanks guys i'll check into both, i didnt even think of the switch, i replaced the clutch perch this winter and just swapped it out into the new one, maybe its hanging up or something, gonna ask my brother about it tomorrow since he was the 2nd owner of it. Both my suzukis would start as long as the clutch was pulled in and even the little dual sport i rode last weekend when i took my msf refresher class would.

Hey james do you remember how to adjust it, you are in fact right i was looking threw my clymers manual this morning and under starting notes
"The engine can be started if the sidestand is up and the transmission is in neutral or in gear with the clutch lever pulled in"
Havent found anything on how to adjust the little sensor

Nevermind found the tests for the switch and it came up bad, clutch lever was frozen into the perch after it got dropped so figured it trashed the switch, dealer my brother uses had one so picking it up tomorrow.
Picked these up today, as severely uncool as they may be, i can now see past my elbows and shoulders, i must be gettin old, mirrors were the first things i axed on all my previous bikes

You're not alone................
Some of us fit extenders under the base of the mirror - size depends on how wide you want to go - usually 1" per side is enough and will give good adjustment. You'll need longer bolts, and making the extenders out of a nylon breadboard and shaping them is probably the cheapest option. Done correctly people won't even notice..................
