Default 1998 cbr900rr jet question

Hey all, I have above mentioned bike with super short exhaust, oem airfilter and plugs, at higher rpm I miss power when first touching gas, can I adjust the jets and needles I have in there? Carbs are super clean and adjusted. I just try to save money and not buy a kit for +$100' any help is appreciated

Be more specific about exactly what happens?

FWIW, a 'super short' or heavily modified exhaust will generally create flat spots and anomalies and than can not be jetted out.

At speeds over about 45 mph. If. I. Hit the gas it hesitates and sputters in all gears until I hit a certain. Rpm then it does ok. That is why I'm thinking that I may need bigger pilot jet.?

Hard to tell by that (not being here myself) , could be rich too.

Hold the rpms right at that point where it is acting up like that and then hit the kill switch. Pull a spark plug and read it. That's will give you the firing condition at that exact point in the range. Then you should have an answer.

At that range, it would most liklely be a needle adjustment.

I don't understand " read the plug". Do ou mean the coloring on them? I just put new plugs in there, if I remember correct the old once had like a white color

Yea, the coloring.

If you shut it off exactly at the point of the problem, the fuel burn condition will be captured on the plug.
