I'm looking for help please!

i have a 1993 Honda cbr900rr that stopped on the street out of no where. My bike started here and their but you couldn't ride it for more than half a block before it shuts off again. Now it won't start I changed the fuel pump, and fuel pump relay and I am getting spark from all the spark plugs! If anyone has ideas of what it could be that would be great!

Sorry if this is the wrong place to post this just can’t find any help. I just replaced my petcock off my 94 cbr900rr with a vacuum actived one that is used for gravity feeding, now I’m confused. I hooked the fuel line up to the petcock and the carbs and no fuel flow is occurring. How do I get the fuel to flow to the carbs to start up the bike? The bike has been sitting awhile so I don’t believe it has any fuel in the engine. Does the fuel level in the gas tank have to be over the carbs full or does that not matter?

 

How much fuel is in the tank?
I have a ’95 893cc, it’s the same as yours, I still have a fuel pump and I might be wrong but as far as I know it is only when you are well into reserve that the issue of the level of the fuel in the tank being too low might be a problem.

If the carb bowls are empty set the petcock to the ‘Pri’ position and fuel will flow without the motor running and pressure of the fuel in the tank will fill the carb bowls until the floats lift and shut off the fuel flow then you can start the bike.
After that you can set the petcock to 'On' so that vacuum connection to the carbs will turn the fuel on.

 

It’s about a gallon that is in the tank right now. See the petcock I have had these 3 setting, on, off, & reserve fuel. So even when I do put it in reserve, still no flow.

 

The small tube that connects the diaphragm in your petcock to the vacuum connection on the carburettors carries the vacuum which moves the diaphragm in the petcock allowing the fuel to flow down the petrol tube to the carburettors.

So, the motor needs to be turning over to supply the vacuum necessary to operate the diaphragm on the petcock.

With a vacuum operated petcock in the ‘On’ (or ‘Reserve’) position, as soon as the starter motor is spinning the motor, this vacuum is being supplied to the petcock and the fuel is flowing.

You can test this by temporarily pulling the small vacuum tube off the petcock and temporarily connecting another length of tube to the petcock in place of it. Sucking on this tube will cause the fuel to flow out of the tap.

 

Okay so on my 94 cbr900rr I’m trying to start the bike and it’ll just keep cranking and white smoke will come out of the exhaust but it won’t start. Any clue? I’m thinking the carbs need repaired because it’s been sitting awhile.

I have a 1993 model and I have a quick question about the fuel pump. The small vaccum type line on the bottom of it. Is that supposed to be hooked to a vaccum source or is it an overflow tube thats supposed to be routed down?
