I've read that the RR has a longer swing arm and more weight foward.

They did that on purpose for racing

I've owned an 03 R6 and could wheelie it all day even in 3rd. I have a new 06 RR and it definetly doesnt come up as easy, but it could be cause of a few reasons, the most obvious being that Im not a complete retard like i was when i owned the R6.

I think the guy hit the nail on the head when he said gearing and the swing arm issue. The bikes ride almost identically in my opinion.
