RE: Why are the 03RR so popular to the 04 and 05's?
Just read the post of an RR being faster than an F4I....well i have first hand experience in the who is faster category...I myself ride an 01 F4I and have a close frind that rides a screaming yellow 03 RR...we call him the banana. fitting name...but however..Both bikes are set up Identical, except for 1 major difference..My bike the 01 F4I has had 2 teeth dropped on the front sprocket...Both bikes have the PC III system and i have a Scorpion exhaust where his is an Arada.. He rode mine and mentioned more torque throu all the powerband on my scoot then his...he actually said he was scared to ride my bike...not to brag...and I in turn rode his and it was quiet "sleepy" for lack of a better term..so in closing...He is younger and rides to the edge of his limits where as im more conservative....but can keep up...So in closing....Gearing is everything.......

I rode my buddy's 600RR. It felt sluggish to me under 10K. I didnt have a chance to open it up. I'm sure it picks up a lot quicker the higher you go. I havent been on a 600 in a few years. Its all about being in the right gear on a 600RR or any other new bike for that matter. Gotta be on the top edge of every gear for it to really meet its potential. Thats why I've suggested to anybody I talk to about tinkering with a 600RR is to regear before anything. Not that it really matters. I bet 85% of the guys on this forum dont even push their bikes hard and at least 10 of the last 15% lie about it. Its all good though. Their money= their bike= their decision on how to ride it and nobody has the right to tell them otherwise. man, i'm long winded.

Alright enough enough.are we talking about driving in a strait line from 0-120?that sounds pretty boring. Thats why you see hayden, miguel duhamel, biagi and all the other factory riders ride RR's.Im sure everyone will agree the track is were its at as far as performance.I do agree that the 600 RR does seem a bit sluggish under 7,000 rpms but as do alot of 600's and solved that problem by dropping 1 in front and up 3 on the back sprocket. My buddies got an 01 yellow f4I and would always get me of the start but after about 60-70 mph by that time my stock 600RR would pull on him once it reaches its consistant power band once I hit 2nd gear the rpms stay above 10 grand.By the time I reach 140 ive got atleast 2 or 3 bikes on him.Im not hammering on the f4i I do like it alot, and its a hell of alot more comfortable to ride on than the RR.I guess alot of it would also have to come down to the driver and who shifts at what time if your talking drag racing.

At 140 mph you are traveling at roughly 205 feet per second. 2-3 bike lengths, at most 15 feet, would be a difference of like .07 seconds. The riders weight , drag characteristics, and tire pressure can alter the time way more than .07 seconds. So basically, it will come down to the rider and the particular bike. I was just stating that if you want to get an RR then get the '05 cus it is the best one to get and for me, personally, I wouldnt see any advantage to move up to an RR except for style purposes.
