That is probably the best way to go.

 

ya that motor is shot.

 

so i got the bike tore down pretty much and waiting on the other motor to get here. sent the swingarm, clutch and stator covers, levers, and rearsets to get powder coated matte black.

 

Ew, you can see which cylinder was blowing the oil. That is a mighty oily exhaust port.

 

yeah cylinder 3 was full of oil.

 

It looks like you are not afraid to get down and dirty with your baby. It feels good to do things yourself.

 

A new motor seems like a very wise decision, lol. I powdercoated mostly everything on my bike over the past year, you'll be very happy with it black...looks sharp.

 

well me and a friend picked up the motor from forward air warehouse monday. got around to it today and started tearin into things again. i found the issue with my other motor. A BIG FREAKIN HOLE IN THE PISTON! im cleanin up the new motor and gettin everything hooked up and gonna get it in the frame tomorrow. oh and one other thing the damn throttle body has been the most pain in the *** out of everything so far!! everything else has been easy. anyone can do this if u take your time and stay organized. heres some pics.........

 

ima tear it down the rest of the way and see if i can fix or i may part it out. the other motor is pretty dirty and gott do some major cleaning on it. hopefully it goes in smooth and starts right up.

 

its just nuts and bolts to me. its the only way to learn. it just sucks not having the special tools sometimes. getting the swingarm bearings out and removing the throttle body have been the biggest pains so far. motor out the frame is easy. finding the 19mm hex socket bit was harder thant that.
