what oil should i use

RE: what oil should i use

If I had a dollar for every time that question came up on a bike board I'd be rich. If I had a dollar for every pissing contest that came after that I'd rival Bill Gates.

I don't have advanced engineering degrees in oil so I can only tell ya what I do. After 500 miles (sometimes before) I put in Mobil 1 synthetic and change the oil every 3000-3500 miles thereafter. My clutches have never slipped (except with the turbo beast and the oil had little to do with that[8D]) and after 35,000 miles my engine's insides were clean and everything was still within spec.

So there is my humble take on this issue ... maybe no one will get their feelings hurt here:D

I just changed my oil to motul 300v.... So far I really like it! Its a full synthetic oil that has made my bike run about 6 degrees cooler and shift smoother! Also the color is bright green. (thats cool to me) LOL. Whats not cool was the price. about 16 bucks a quart.

after the initial break in(first 600 miles where you have to use nonsynthetic to seat everything properly) always use full synthetic, i use moble 1 racing but royal purple or repsol brand are both great. 3000 mile oil/filter change periods

i use gn4, i wont use synthetic....but its all opinion. just makes sure to actually change it

I go with the same as Vangill. If you're not going to the track (using high RPM's) or have a lot of miles on the bike (30,000 - 50,000 miles) use the stock oil. I've never noticed using synthetic makes a difference on every day riding with some occasions of canyon runs.

Use whatever weight and type is specified in the manual, and change it regularly.
