Default What octane for 2007 cbr600rr?

what octane do you cbr600rr owners use? i read somewhere that the new knock sensor in the 07-08 model can compensate for lower octane fuel, therefore i guess you wont lose any hp or harm the engine using 87?

Owners manual for the 03-06 says to use 87

Owners manual for the 07+ says to use premium.

Horsepower really doesn't have anything to do with octane.

well if you are putting a lower amount of octane than required the knock sensor should pull back timing therefore some horsepower should be compromised. if the engine doesn't require a higher octane, then higher octane wont affect horsepower.

That's what I meant, running a higher octane won't effect HP. The knock sensor on our bikes just goes into a self diagnostic mode where after a knock is detected, it will gradually increase timing to see if the knock continues.

Either way, the manual and service manual both say to run premium.

You won't harm it but you will loose power and mileage.
