The performance difference between these bikes is very small, and both are so good that it will be a very long time, if ever, before the bike, and not your riding ability, becomes the limiting factor.
If the looks or cool factor of the RR are important to you, then go ahead and get the bike that makes you happy - after all, buying a sport bike isn't about rational decision-making.
But Woot's advise makes sense to me. Get a bike that's a few years old, and invest the savings in the rider, by getting out to track days.
