RE: TIRES....
I took my stock Dunlop 208's to the track a few years ago and they did just fine, but I wasn't riding as aggressively that time either. After that I bought Pilot Powers off a recommendation of someone who races and used him on a training week and came back raving they they were the only DOT tires he was able to push at "race pace!"
Here's what I did with my old Dunlops (someone said that they're only good hanging from a tree):

RE: TIRES....
Metzler M3's are nice and so are the new Pirelli Diablo Strata's. Both are great street tires and similar to pilots. Pilots are the best tires and now are so damn cheap, you might as well get them. When Pirelli had their promotion last month, I bagged a 180 rear and a 120 front for 165 total including tax and shipping.
I run 32 front and between 34-36 in the back. You run low 16-20 when you want to do slow stunts for better grip/balance.
