Depending on where they do the test, it often includes some tight U turns or figure-8 type turns, which you may want to
practice with the RR. Tighter turns on a sport bike can be tricky. I find them easier with just a touch of rear brake for speed
control, and feather the clutch.

Good luck, you'll be fine !

+1

If you get a chance before hand try and go work on some real low speed clutch control in a parking lot, low speed control like cjp menioned is basically all of the test. Only tricky thing about the RR is the long first gear which makes fully engaging the clutch near impossible if you are taking a really slow turn. Just remember to only use the rear brake and feather the clutch and you'll be fine. Good luck!

Rear brake is Key, use it gently to slow you down! .. especially when doing the u -turn. If they have you do a series of back and forth weaving choose 2 cones to run over ...lol. Seriously I tried it the first time and failed misearable and almost dropped my bike ... The second time I asked them if i hit2 outta the 5 cones would I fail. Nope. At speeds below 20mphs I really think those turns are impossible. ...BTW .. this test in for the Virginia DMV.

Good Luck

yes definitely practice u-turns and figure 8's... the cone weave was extremely difficult for me, so practice feathering the clutch and rear brake while changing directions in the figure 8, slowing urself down while in a tight turn, etc

the only other piece of advice i can say is rent a registered KLR for the test!... JJ but seriously, remember with slow turns no lean, relaxed arms, and as far as the serpitine cones goes, don't think of trying to do an series of shallow "s" turns, go slow and do actual 180 semi-circles. It's alot easier, and you have more room for turn in.....

Just what they taught us in my MSF
