I know everyone loves my posts, but I feel like it depends on your size and more importantly weight. 600's for track winning were designed for riders that weight what 120 to maybe 140 at the most. I mean come on they are like horse jockeys. If you are over 6 feet and weigh more than 200, just do the math. You can prolly handle a 1000, I say go for the kneeshooters and get the liter.

I think that you'll be happy with a new 600rr. I just got an 07 and its much quicker than older bikes that I've dealt with. The throttle is very responsive on the newer bikes and the handling is still there. Of course a 1000 is going to be faster but the lower weight and size of the newer 600's is a great advantage in cornering.

I think you are gonna find that the new 600 rr will be just what you are looking for...i had a 98 F3 before and now i have an 06 RR ...i think the best thing about the bike is that i was comfortable on it almost instantly..the riding position is almost the same, and the throttle and clutch feel familiar..not the same, but still has that Honda feel to it...where as if you jumped on a Kawi or Gixxer, those things all feel way different and it would take a bit more to get used to a different make before you actually felt ok on it..at least thats what i think..i tested a new 636 and both the 750 and 600 gixxer and they just didne feel right even when just sitting on them parked...
the best thing about the new RR as opposed to my F3.....Fuel Injection baby....man the throttle really picks up compared to the Mikuni's that were on my old bike....i think thats the biggest thing you'll notice off the bat....oh and it has a fuel gauge too.....GENIUS !!!!!

why dont u go back and learn how to drive that F2 now...i doubt youre at the peak performance of that bike. that being said i had an F2...but my 600rr is a good deal better, fuel injection helps smooth out the throttle and just the difference between 10+ years of technology.
