Sitting in a petrol station on my 2004 600rr waiting to fill up after riding 20 miles home from work - when I hear a loud bang like a tyre exploding and see a black disc flying across the fore court - "wonder what that was" i thought. filled up with petrol rode home and put the bike on the paddock stand and then notice that the black cap on my showa shock aint there any more - so the bang was the cap blowing off - question is obviously the cap blew off under pressure so some nitrogen must have leaked - shock seems fine and I dont seem to notice any difference - is it f**ked - seems you cant buy the cap. dont want to spend lots a money on a new shock and dont really want to up grade. Answers on a postcard

 

I hope your kidding. You say that you hear a loud bang. You say you see something fly by and wonder what it is. You get home and realize it's you. You hypothesize that maybe something was leaking and that is what caused it.

I think all of that means replace it and don't be cheap. Safety first.

 

This is not the first time I have heard of this happening.........
