I bought new. It would be too easy to slap some new plastic on a bike that has been flipped a few times because some kid was stunting. Taking a 100mph turn and finding out the bike has a bent frame doesn't sound like fun to me. If you could truly know the bikes history, then I would say buy a used one. Take your time and give the frame and everything a good look. Is it possible to have someone else look at it? If you want the bike, you might be too excited to really look it over for damage. And don't forget, my new 600RR came with a 4 year unlimited mile warranty. There are a lot of complicated electronic parts to go bad on today's bikes.

If you are new to Biking I highly recomend buying used I am suryou can find one in good shape if you buy new I can guarantee that it isn't going to look new for long not being mean or saying you can't ride but there is a real good chance if this is you're first sport bike you are going to drop it buy one a few years old drive it for a year or two then get a new one you won't lose too much money on the re sale and you will have a better idea what you want in a new bike and be able to keep it in better shape cause you will have done all you're crashing/learning on te old one lol

I bought new. I just like the idea of a bike that has never been riden. A used bike you never know how it was treated and I just don't like that. If you can I would get a new bike.

If you are new to motorcycles I would get new, or barely used. I got my first street bike in June, but it was an '04 sold in '05 with 400 miles on it, so for all intense purposes it was still new. As a new rider I wanted something new because I wasn't sure that I'd no what to look for as far as problems on an old bike. Also, I wanted a warranty. Lastly, being that I'm somewhat inexperienced I wanted something that was reliable. Starting out, I might not handle a blown tire at 60 mph, therefore why not just get something that I know will hold up.

Just something to think about.

I bought new so that i new that it hadnt been used and abused, and that everything would be ok with it. But as far as performance goes, apart from the 05` models have better front suspension,i dont think theres much difference at all to be honest. If i had the money i would buy brand new always, but think about how many used CBR 600 RR`s there are if everyone is buying new,so if you havent got the money im sure if you took your time you could find a nice used bike, the lower mileage the better!

If you can afford it and you think you'll stick with it for a while new is the way to go.

Well done.

Have fun, be careful, and make sure you get the right gear, especially a good helmet.

I can afford to buy new but generally buy used. If you do your research, you can find an almost new bike with very low miles and save yourself enough money to buy full gear and pay for the insurance on top of everything. If you buy new, you have to pay delivery fees, doc fees, dealer fees, and enough to give the dealer a profit. If you drove the bike home and put it up for sale the next day, you would probably lose about $1k overnight. The dealers make it look easy to get into a bike b/c they provide financing, and things like no money down and 2.99% interest for the first 6 months, but after that the interest rate hikes up into the teens. I usually will find a credit card that offers me an intro rate of 0 to 3% for 12 months and then try to pay it off within the 1 year time period. If I don’t pay it off, I can usually find another low interest credit card for another 6 to 12 months. It’s way more work to buy used, but nice to have the extra $1k+ in your pocket afterwards. You generally should look for a bike that is one year old, has low mileage, is in ultra mint condition and was owned by an older rider. These people tend to ride their bikes very conservatively, and sell them as soon as they decide they want something different or that motorcycles aren’t for them (or their aged bodies can’t handle full tuck position). I just picked up a used 600RR for my wife who was moving up from a Ninja 250. Guess what she did—yes, she dropped it the first time she rode it. It was a lot easier to stomach the drop since the bike was used (even though it was in mint condition before she dropped it).
